MP Raju Bista Addresses BJP Maha-Karyakarta Sammelan in Kurseong on Republic Day

 

Kurseong : On the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, Darjeeling MP and BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista addressed the BJP Maha-Karyakarta Sammelan in Kurseong on Sunday, highlighting the contributions of Gorkha leaders in the making of the Indian Constitution and outlining the party’s vision for the region.

Bista paid tribute to leaders such as Dambar Singh Gurung and Ari Bahadur Gurung, noting their role in representing the region during the drafting of the Constitution. He said their legacy continues to inspire the community’s sense of identity, dignity, and rights within the national framework.

The MP said the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ideology aligns with nationalistic values and praised the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Criticising the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Bista alleged that the party had adversely affected the socio-cultural fabric of the region and raised concerns over migration, settlement of alleged illegal immigrants, and the status of tea and cinchona garden workers, particularly regarding Parja Patta rights.

He asserted that people from the Darjeeling hills, Terai, and Dooars were seeking political change in the state.

Outlining proposed measures, Bista said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the BJP aims to improve wages and facilities for tea and cinchona garden workers through new labour codes, ensure Parja Patta for residents of tea gardens, cinchona gardens, forest villages, and DI Fund lands, and focus on creating local employment and enhancing access to quality education in the region.

He concluded by thanking BJP party workers for their efforts in strengthening the party’s outreach and promoting its principles of “nation first” and “Antyodaya,” or reaching the last mile.
